Hyeonseo Lee is a North Korean defector and author known for her remarkable journey escaping North Korea and her advocacy work related to human rights and North Korean issues. She was born in North Korea and lived there until she defected to China in 1997. After years of living in China and facing significant challenges, including the threat of deportation back to North Korea, she eventually made her way to South Korea in 2012.
Hyeonseo Lee gained international recognition through her TED Talk, where she shared her experience of growing up in North Korea, her escape, and the difficulties she faced as a defector.
