Hillary Rodham Clinton is an American politician, diplomat, lawyer, and author. She was born on October 26, 1947. Clinton gained national prominence as First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001 during the presidency of her husband, Bill Clinton. In that role, she advocated for health care reform and worked on initiatives to improve the status of women and children.

After her time as First Lady, Clinton served as a U.S. Senator from New York from 2001 to 2009. She was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President in 2008, ultimately losing to Barack Obama. Following this, she was appointed Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, where she played a crucial role in a "reset" of U.S.–Russia relations and emphasized the use of smart power in foreign policy.

Clinton ran for president again in 2016 and became the first woman to be nominated for president by a major U.S. political party. She won the popular vote but lost the election to Donald Trump in the Electoral College.

In addition to her political career, Clinton is an accomplished author, having written several books, including "Living History," "Hard Choices," and "What Happened." She remains an influential figure in American politics and continues to advocate for various social and political causes.
