Gerald Durrell (1925–1995) was a British naturalist, zookeeper, conservationist, author, and television presenter known for his passionate advocacy for wildlife and environmental conservation. He founded the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and the Jersey Zoo (originally known as the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust) on the island of Jersey, which focused on the breeding and protection of endangered species.
