Saint Faustina Kowalska, born Helena Kowalska on August 25, 1905, in Głogowiec, Poland, is known as the "Apostle of Divine Mercy." She was a Polish nun of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy and is famous for her revelations of divine mercy, which she recorded in her diary, "Divine Mercy in My Soul."

Her writings describe encounters with Jesus, who revealed to her the importance of God's mercy and the need for humanity to trust in it. She emphasized the message of God's unconditional love and forgiveness, particularly through the practice of the Divine Mercy devotion, which includes the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the observance of Divine Mercy Sunday, celebrated on the Sunday after Easter.

Faustina died on October 5, 1938, at the age of 33. She was canonized by Pope John Paul II on April 30, 2000, and her feast day is celebrated on the same date. Her life and work have inspired many, and she is particularly venerated in the Catholic Church for her role in promoting the message of Divine Mercy.
