Christopher Isherwood - كتب

Christopher Isherwood (1904–1986) was a British-American writer known for his novels, autobiographical works, and contributions to the genre of gay literature. He is perhaps best known for his Berlin Stories, which include the novella Goodbye to Berlin. These stories reflect his experiences in Berlin during the Weimar Republic and have had a significant influence on both literature and film, famously inspiring the musical and film Cabaret.

Isherwood's writing often explores themes of identity, sexuality, and the complexities of human relationships. His style combines a keen observational skill with a sense of irony and an ability to capture the vibrancy of the lives around him. In addition to his work set in Germany, he wrote about his life in California, including in A Single Man, which depicts the life of a gay man in the 1960s following the death of his partner.

Isherwood emigrated to the United States in the 1930s and later became a naturalized citizen. He also explored spirituality and Eastern philosophy, particularly in his later works. His legacy is marked by his influential contributions to literature, especially in giving voice to LGBTQ+ experiences during a time of significant social change.
